The Google Pixel 6a is set to be released in the near future and as always, there is a lot of speculation about what the phone will entail. In this post, we’ll be discussing all of the latest rumors about the Pixel 6a. We’ll also be sharing some leaked images and details about the phone’s features.
Release date and price
There are rumors circulating that the Google Pixel 6a may be released in May 2022. The developer conference, Google I/O, is being held on 11 and 12 May for 2022, so this is when we may see the new handset. Previous to the Pixel 5a, the Pixel 4a was announced in August 2020 and the Pixel 3a was revealed in May 2019, meaning there isn't a defined pattern as such. The Google Pixel 6a is expected to have a price tag of around $500/£500. There have also been leaks of the packaging which suggest this information could be true. However, nothing is confirmed as of yet. We'll just have to wait and see!
The Google Pixel 6a has allegedly been spotted in some renders, revealing that it will look very similar to the recently released Pixel 6. The phone will measure 152.2 x 71.8. x 8.7mm and have a similar design to its predecessor, however it's said that the phone won't offer a 3.5mm headphone jack. The renders show a black and gray color palette option, as well as a white and cream color combination, though more recent rumors claim the Pixel 6a will be available in black.
According to some renders that have surfaced, the Google Pixel 6a will come with a 6.2-inch flat OLED display with an under display fingerprint sensor. There's no word on resolution as yet, or refresh rate, though we would expect Full HD+ with 90Hz refresh rate. It's possible it could offer a 60Hz refresh rate but with many mid-range phones now offering 90Hz, we think the latter is more likely.
The Google Pixel 6a is rumored to have the same camera as the Pixel 5. That would mean a 12.2MP main camera, coupled with a 16-megapixel ultra wide-angle camera, as well as an 8-megapixel front camera. The rear camera setup would remain unchanged from the Pixel 5 and 5a 5G. This would be a step down from the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, which have a 16.3MP main camera and a telephoto lens that offers 2x optical zoom. It's also worth noting that the Google Pixel 6a is rumored to miss out on features like Motion Blur, which is present on the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro.
Hardware and specs
Google's in-house Tensor chip is reportedly set to make an appearance on the upcoming Pixel 6a handset. This was revealed by a Geekbench listing, which also showed that the phone will come with 6GB of RAM. Another Geekbench listing saw the Pixel 6a compared to the more expensive Pixel 6, and it was revealed that the 6a will have a smaller storage capacity of 128GB. It's also said that at least one model of the Pixel 6a could support mmWave 5G. And finally, battery capacity is claimed to be 4800mAh.
The Google Pixel 6a is expected to be released some time in May, and it's rumored to have a price tag of just $399. It's not clear what the design will be like, but it's likely to be very similar to the Pixel 3a. The display is rumored to be 5.6 inches, and the camera is rumored to be the same as the Pixel 3a. The hardware and specs are likely to be very similar to the Pixel 3a as well, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor and 4GB of RAM.
